A New Well of Living Water for Thirsty Hearts

How can you tell if your a Christian?

Posted by on Thursday, October 16, 2008 (PST)

Can you tell you are a Christian just because you said a prayer or are there other signs?

We had alot of fun Wednesday Night, we had a time of prayer, we played a a great game of I've never (it was a little slow at first, but by the time it started to pick up we had wiped out at least 5 chairs), we played a new game of where we all were acting a certain way and who ever was it had to tell us what we were all doing (that's probably not the best explination, but it was fun), and we tried to see how well we knew our youth group (I was plesantly suprised that we did really well in that game), but once it was over I asked everyone a question.  "It's easy to tell who your friends are by the way they act and thing about them, but how easy is it for others to tell if you are a Christian?"

The Bible says whatever you do, it needs to glorify God, but do we?  What happens when we don't?  What happens to God work here on earth when we are seen as people who are no different for those who are not saved?  As a matter of fact are we even saved?  How can we tell if we are saved?

Our actions tell alot about who we are, just as we demonstrated Wednesday, but are those actions bringing Glory to God?

You might say, oh it's harmless to act this way or it's harmless to do this, but what eternal impact are you making because of that selfish attitude?

In the movie Schindlers List (I'm sure I didn't spell that right), there is a point where he meets those he had saved.  You think it would be a happy day, you think it would been a time of celebration for those he has saved, but it was quite the opposite.  He was upset and weeping because he looked at his life and saw things he could have sold to save people.  He had a pen and he cried out that if he would have sold that pen he could have saved two more people.  He said if he could have sold his car he could have saved 15.  I wonder if we will have one of those moments, if we could have just done a little more, if we could have followed the Word a little more closely, if we could have just spoken up, how many more people would not had to burn in hell?

    To be continued next week....
