Distractions and Diversions

Ok so last week we saw that in order to have a changed life we must have a changed mind. In order to have a changed mind we must have the thoughts of God and in order to have the thoughts of God we must know God and have a relationship with him. So what's the first thing that needs to happen in order to have a great relationship with God? Jesus shows us in Mark 1. He gets up early and leaves all the distractions behind. It's a simple first step and actually without it everything else we will learn about is pointless. Trying to be alone with God without being away and in a quite place is sort of like cooking without a stove. You need the stove to bake it and make the finished product a welcome outcome. Jesus shows us how important it is and we know why it's important, but what else is there in this recipe for spiritual imtimacy?
