What's the next step in a closer relationship with God?

What do you think of when you hear the words "Be Still"? Is it the ability to sit motionless? How about when the Bible says in Psalms 46:10 to be still and know I am God? Does it mean we should just sit in one spot and ponder God? No, Remember being still comes after getting away to a private place. Just sitting there does no good. So what does it mean when the Bible says to be still? It means silence and peace, So when we are commanded (yes, when the Bible says Be still it's not an option it's a command) to be still we are to be at peace in our heart, we are to lay down our worries, everything that is going on in our head, all the stress of life is to be laid at the feet of Jesus. How do I know this, because after we are to be at peace, we are told to know I am God. Just trust him, he will take care of it all. All those things you worry about, God holds in his hands. So by being still, by quieting our heart and mind we are able to hear God. We study his word, we pray, without distraction, without music, without TV, without Cellphones, it's just me and God. When you take this next step something amazing happens. It's the same thing that the Bible tells us will happen there in Psalms 46, worship! When we drop our worries, everything in our crowded minds is laid down, we can focus on the one that really matters. We wonder why our worship services are the way they are, yet at the same time most of us are thinking out what's for lunch, who's sitting by us, and other things that don't really matter. So give it a try, 7 days of stillness and see how your relationship with God is affected.
